Just got this from another forum and have been 'spammed' by several members already:
"Dear all,
Please be aware of this new scam if you have a Yahoo ID - dont be fooled into giving your personal info out!
Thanks to Ross G4YQY for this info - I have already seen this occur on some scanner groups and the FT100 group I am a member of, so it IS real and IS happening!
Although it appears to be a bona fide service, the system will spam all of the yahoo and google groups you are a member of with invitations for others to join grouply, and the emails appear as if they came from your Yahoo ID!! Not good!
Cheers,
Matt

Subject: [TG] New email scam - on Yahoo Groups
Evening All.
This message has been posted to several other groups that I am in and in view of the potential damage this can do, I think it important that you should all know about it.
Please beware that there is a new type of scam appearing, You get an email asking you to
join an organization called GROUPLY. It claims to sort all your groups
and contacts list. You are asked to include your Yahoo Id and P*filtered*WORD to join
and once in control can use your system to send more invites to all in
your contacts.
If you get one of these invites DELETE IT AT ONCE. If you have already
joined send separate notification to group owners as otherwise they
may think that you are the one doing the scam postings. It may be necessary for you existing membership to be cancelled, as your Yahoo ID will have been compromised, and oyu will have to rejoin under a new Id.
Please p*filtered* this on to other groups that you are in."
I can't see why anyone in their right mind would give their ID/email/user name and P*filtered*WORD to anyone but the service they have signed up to. Obviously people do, not realising the possible actions from doing so.
Even on sites like Facebook, they sometimes ask for your MSN or Yahoo ID and P*filtered*word, DO NOT Submit the information! If you want to find people on there, they will be found if they want to be, not by someone else's site spamming everyone with requests to join theirs.
This cannot be stressed enough, if you are asked by anything or anyone for your ID and or P*filtered*word, from anywhere but the service itself you signed up for, DO NOT submit the information!
Please p*filtered* this on to any other groups or organisations that you may belong to.
